Welsh-Ryan Arena Renovation
Project Status: COMPLETED
Construction Start: March 2017
Completion: October 2018
Project Description and Statistics
Welsh-Ryan Arena, the home of Northwestern University’s basketball, volleyball and wrestling teams, underwent a transformation with the help of sustainable lumber from Menominee Tribal Enterprises. The process, completed in October 2018, was done with the support of various donors, Northwestern benefactors and the Northwestern athletics department.
With MTE, Northwestern was able to expand the usable court space in both the main area and fieldhouse, broadening the playing field with eco-friendly, sustainably-sourced wood straight from the Menominee.
MTE supplies lumber for basketball court flooring for arenas in the NCAA, NBA, and Olympics.
